Add a Bot to the Kore.ai Messaging Platform

Bots can be added to your Kore.ai Messenger account or to a team room. You can add a bot on the Bots  tab, both on the desktop and smartphone Kore.ai apps.

Note: If you are a company Kore.ai user and are unable to access the Bots Platform via Kore.ai Messenger, do not worry. The Kore.ai Enterprise Administrator for your company may have setup Application Roles to encourage you to use Kore.ai only on specific channels, or to use only specific features of the Kore.ai Messaging Platform. For more information, see Application Roles.

 On the Kore.ai Messenger smartphone app, perform these steps to add a bot to your Kore.ai Messenger account:

  1. Tap Bots  on the Kore.ai Home screen.

  2. Tap Bots Store on the top right corner of the screen.
  3. On the Bots Store screen, tap and select any bot.
    In this example, tap and select the Twitter bot on the Bots Store screen, and then tap Add.

  4. The Kore.ai bot for Twitter is added to your account, and is displayed on the Bots tab.

A good example of a bot that you may want to configure for your account would be the alerts that you are interested in, for example, Kore.ai CNN® Travel Alerts. See the procedure here.

Most bots have tasks that monitor events in third-party applications, and that also help you to perform tasks in third-party applications.

Add a Bot Task

The procedure for adding a bot task is based on the type of bot, which could be one of:

You can activate a bot task in a few simple generic steps.

Note: Each bot is different and may consist of one or more of the following bot configuration steps. 

  1. Authorization or signing into a Bot 

    Sign in and authorize Kore.ai to access the corresponding website or application of a bot.
    If you are setting up an bot for RSS feeds or web hooks, this step may not be applicable. Signing in or authorization may not be necessary for RSS feeds and web hooks, as they are generally not used to fetch confidential information.

  2. Configuring your Bot settings

    When you select a bot, you may need to specify settings to identify from where your bot messages must be generated. For example, in a project management tool such as AsanaTM, you must configure the following settings:

    • Workspace
    • Project
  3. Adding filters

    Assuming that you configured the Workspace and Project settings for the Asana application, you can further filter the bot messages that you want to receive. For example, you can add a filter for the assignee, and configure to receive a bot message whenever an Asana task is assigned to the specific assignee.

  4. Scheduling your Bot message 

    You can receive bot messages from a bot at a preset schedule. For example, you can schedule bot messages from Asana to display on the Bots tab of the Messages screen, only on weekdays or at a specific time during the day.

  5. Customizing your Bot message 

    You can rename your bot and modify its description according to your preference.

Deactivating or deleting a Bot task

  1. On the smartphone app Home screen, tap the bot that you want to delete.
  2. On the Bots screen that is displayed, tap Manage on the top right corner of the screen.
  3. On the Manage < Bot Name > screen that is displayed, tap Advanced Options.
  4. On the Advanced screen that is displayed, tap Delete all Tasks and Remove Bot.
  5. On the Delete Bot & all its tasks confirmation dialog, tap Confirm.
