Compliance Module Overview

In the Compliance module, in the Kore Enterprise Admin Console, you can enable and then customize message retention policies, configure eDiscovery searches, and place selected Kore accounts on litigation hold. After retention is defined, you can provide access to eDiscovery search results to selected internal domain users as well as external users. Using Kore a message trace, you can track and recall selected messages from one or more recipients. To save enterprise data even after the retention period expires, you can archive the data locally or on Kore servers.

About Data Retention

By default, there is no data retention defined for your domain. The only restriction for data retention is storage size. For example, data retention is indefinite for a user with a 50 GB storage limit until the storage limit is reached. The oldest stored data is automatically deleted when any new messages are added after the storage limit is reached, unless data retention is enabled.

To maintain system performance and manage storage size, you can define a default retention policy that applies to all users, groups and spaces. In addition, you can create custom data retention polices that apply only to specific users, groups, and spaces. For more information, see Managing Retention Policy.

About eDiscovery

As an Enterprise Admin, or admin user, you may be required to identify data in your domain for civil or government investigations. Using Kore eDiscovery, you can search for data about a specific user or group, within a specific period of time, and define the subject or keywords to search for. After the search is complete, you can then define if and how the data should be retained and who has access to that data, including users outside of your domain. For more information, see Managing eDiscovery.

About Message Trace

Message trace in the Enterprise Admin Console is a powerful tool that you can use to create searches for, view, and then graph the message flow sent to and from managed users in your domain. In a message trace, you can see, for example, all of the messages sent to and from a specific user or group of users, including the message flow for recipients of the message. You can see if a sent message was read, forwarded, or deleted by the recipient. If you want to recall the message, you can recall the message not only from the sender, but from any recipient that the original recipient forwarded the message to. For more information, see Working with Message Trace.

The following illustration shows an example of the Compliance module with the Retention page displayed.

In This Module

The Compliance module is comprised of the following pages:

  • Retention Page

On the Retention page in the Kore Compliance module, in the Enterprise Admin Console, you can define retention policies for messages sent by managed users in your domain to other managed users and groups in your domain, and users external to your domain. By default, message retention is disabled. The topic describes how to enable message retention, modify the default retention period, and if desired, define and manage custom message retention policies for specific user and groups.
  • eDiscovery Page

On the eDiscovery page in the Compliance module of the Kore Enterprise Admin Console, you can define and manage eDiscovery searches. You can define an eDiscovery search that provides a relevant list of Kore messages for review, usually by civil or government investigations. After you define the eDiscovery search, you can enable other users to review the results of that search, for example, an attorney with read-only access.

  • Message Trace Page

In the Compliance module, on the Message Trace page, you can create and manage your message traces. A message trace in the Kore Enterprise Admin Console is a powerful tool that you can use to create searches for, view, and then trace the message flow sent to and from managed users in your domain. In a message trace, you can see, for example, all of the messages sent to and from a specific user or group of users, including the message flow for recipients of the message. You can see if a sent message was read, forwarded, or deleted by the recipient. If you want to recall the message, you can recall the message not only from the sender, but from any recipient including forwarded messages from those recipients.

  • Archive Data Page

In the Compliance module, on the Archive Data page of the Enterprise Admin Console, you can enable and configure data archiving options for all enterprise data or a combination of managed users and spaces, to include or exclude bot messages.
